Tucked in at the base of the Mogollon Rim, Sedona is world-famous for its natural limestone & sandstone sculptures, which were carved by wind, water, and time.

Layers of red rock
A little over three million years ago, this entire area was periodically underwater, and these layers of sedimentary rock were laid down over millennia.
The red striations come from iron oxide — basically rust.

Chapel of the Holy Cross
This little church was built in the ’50s, and is set right into the stone.

Feel the vortex?
Sedona is also known for its many spiritual meditative sites, which some people also describe as vortexes — described as swirling energy that radiates from the earth.
